AI Search Optimization
Generative Engine Optimization Services for Local Businesses
More of your customers are asking an assistant instead of scrolling a results page. They ask ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, or Gemini for a recommendation and get one answer naming a handful of businesses. Generative engine optimization services exist to make sure your business is one of the ones named. It is one of the two engines Pathly CRM runs on, alongside SEO, because we do not run ads at all.
What GEO Is
Being Found Is No Longer the Same as Being Named
Generative Engine Optimization, or GEO, is the practice of structuring your content, your business information, and your reputation so AI search systems reference, cite, or recommend you when they build an answer. Traditional SEO asks how to rank on page one. GEO asks how to become the answer itself, because in an AI response there is no page two and often no list at all.
The two are not rivals. A crawlable, well-structured site is the raw material an AI system pulls from, which is why GEO work sits on top of solid technical and local SEO rather than replacing it. What changes is the surface area: AI systems read your directory listings, your reviews, your Google Business Profile, and third-party mentions, not just your homepage.
We wrote the long version of this, including how retrieval actually works and the research behind it, in our full guide to generative engine optimization.
What an AI answer engine is looking for
A clear, direct answer to the exact question asked
Facts stated plainly enough to be lifted out as a passage
The same business details repeated consistently everywhere
Corroboration from sources other than your own website
Recent, answered reviews that read like real people wrote them
Markup that says what a page is instead of leaving it to inference
What Is Included
What Our Generative Engine Optimization Services Cover
Six pieces of work. None of them are impressive on their own, and together they are the difference between being quoted and being skipped.
Entity consistency
An AI system builds a picture of your business from every place it appears. If the name, address, phone number, hours, or services are written differently across directories, that picture blurs and confidence drops. We make one version true everywhere: your site, your Google Business Profile, and more than forty directories, then keep it that way.
Structured data
Schema markup labels your pages so a machine does not have to guess: LocalBusiness, Service, FAQPage, Article, Review. It is the most literal way to hand an answer engine a fact it can trust, and it is missing or broken on most small business websites we look at.
Citations and third-party presence
AI answers pull from far more than your website: directories, industry associations, local press, community sites, and discussion threads. Building and correcting that off-site footprint is what turns a claim you make about yourself into something an answer engine can corroborate.
Content built for extraction
Answer engines lift passages, not pages. So we write the way they read: headings phrased as the questions customers actually ask, the answer in the first two or three sentences rather than after a long windup, self-contained sections, and FAQ blocks on the pages that matter most.
Review signals
Reviews are third-party evidence, and AI systems weigh them heavily when a query asks for a recommendation. We turn on automated review requests by text at the moment a customer is happiest, route replies to a real person, and make sure responses actually get written.
Testing and reporting
We ask the assistants the questions your customers ask, record whether you appear and who appears instead, and repeat it on a schedule. Those findings sit in the same monthly report as your listings and search visibility, so AI presence is measured rather than assumed.
GEO and SEO
Two Jobs, One Foundation
GEO does not replace search engine optimization. It changes what winning looks like once someone has asked their question.
Traditional SEO
Get listed, get clicked
Goal: appear high on a page of results
Measured in rankings, clicks, and organic sessions
Built on crawlable pages, keywords, and links
The customer chooses from a list you are on
Generative Engine Optimization
Get named, get recommended
Goal: be cited inside the answer itself
Measured in citations, mentions, and share of answers
Built on clear facts, structure, and corroboration
The customer is handed a short list you are on, or not
Both start with a site that can be crawled and read. If that part is shaky, begin with a technical SEO audit, then layer GEO on top.
How It Works
How We Run GEO for a Local Business
Nothing gets signed before you know where you currently stand. The first step costs nothing and is useful even if we never work together.
01
Find out where you stand
We ask the assistants the questions your customers ask and write down what comes back: whether you appear, who does, and what the answer says about you.
02
Fix the facts
Listings corrected, Google Business Profile rebuilt, schema added, and one consistent set of details published everywhere a machine might read them.
03
Publish quotable answers
Service pages, area pages, FAQ sections, and articles written around the real questions people ask, structured so a passage can stand on its own.
04
Re-test and report
The same questions get asked again on a schedule. Changes go in the monthly report next to visibility, calls, and inquiries tracked in the CRM.

Why Pathly CRM
This Is the Work We Bet the Business On
We do not run ads for our clients or for ourselves, so AI search visibility is not a side service here. It is how the whole model has to work.
No ad spend, ever
Everything comes from SEO and GEO. It is slower to start and it does not stop working the month a budget pauses, which is the whole reason we chose it.
One partner per metro area
One business per industry in a given metropolitan area. In AI search that matters more than usual: an answer names two or three businesses, and we are not going to help your competitor be one of them.
Connected systems, not more tools
Reviews, listings, content, CRM, booking, and reporting run as one system, which is exactly what GEO needs: the same facts and the same reputation signals moving together instead of drifting apart.
Founder-led support
Pathly CRM is run by Alan Rosales from an office in Arvada, Colorado. Call 720-780-9396 or email support@pathly.care and a real person answers.
